Step 2) Draw your illustration on the fabric with a permanent source of color. I didn't worry too much about water resistance as I don't think they will ever wash this pillow. I used an indian ink pen and prismacolor markers.
Step 3) Cut around your illustration (with another layer of fabric on the other side) leaving approximately 1 1/2" (4 cm) around the illustration. Turn the two pieces inside out (with the face of the illustration down on the other fabric).
Step 4) Sew around the outside of the illustration approximately 3/4" (2 cm) from the drawing all the way around. Leave one area of the two pieces of fabric open to stuff your pillow. I left the bottom of their basket open.
Step 5) Flip it right side out.
Step 6) Stuff your pillow with bought stuffing or fabric straps cut in small pieces.
Step 7) Sew up the open end.
Step 8) Sign your work!
And there you have it! Here's my finished pillow 'floating' over Sydney. This was a big hit this year. I'm so happy they loved it!
